Packaging materials for a sustainable future.

Robust materials made from plant matter and minerals to replace contaminating plastic in the packaging industry and more.

If you believe you can enable and convince all humans to separate and recycle their waste, you have embarked on mission impossible. With 91% of plastic not being recycled today and with all of the environmental issues associated with recycling fossil-based plastic, we have collectively proven that the current groupthink around recycling is a dead end.

Imagine, instead, a world in which no waste needs to be separated because it all disappears without trace. Our ancestors managed it and so can we. Pack2Earth is spearheading bringing that vision back to life.

We are an environmental impact company
Our patent pending innovations are biobased circular economy materials for the packaging industry & more.

As avid trail runners and hikers, Pack2Earth’s co-founders were horrified to find that thousands of empty sports nutrition packets end up as litter in nature. These packets are made of single use petroleum plastic that pollutes the environment for hundreds of years, gradually breaking down into microplastics that are harmful to the environment and to human health.

Pack2Earth has become a leading sustainable packaging materials company, which has received multiple national and international awards, and has received extensive support and investment from the EU, the Spanish Ministry of Science & Innovation, EIT Food, ACCIÓ and other leading entities and private investors.

Our patent pending innovations are biobased circular economy materials for the packaging industry & more.

We asked ourselves, how can we change this? So, we started out wanting to revolutionise the world of sports nutrition with sustainable packaging that would disappear even if it was discarded inappropriately as litter, but we soon realised that there was high demand for materials that compost at ambient temperature yet can be used to package long-life products, so we embarked on an R&D&i adventure to develop a solution. As a result, we now offer patent-pending, high-barrier biobased materials that compost at ambient temperature to manufacture packaging for long-life products, whether they’re dry, semi-liquid or liquid, that can be disposed of with organic waste like food scraps. Our materials are food-grade.

You can acquire Pack2Earth’s sustainable packaging materials under license for manufacturing and use or you can order your finished packaging solutions directly from us. Either way, we’ll help you to meet your sustainability and recyclability targets, while making a contribution to human’s and the planet’s health.

Packaging materials for the Circular Economy
  • Materials that compost at ambient temperature (officially known as “home compostable” despite their most common end-of-life being in the organic waste bin with other organic waste like food scraps). Even if they are inappropriately discarded, they will compost quickly, leaving no trace.
  • Biobased, made from plant matter and minerals.
  • Suitable for packaging long-life dry to semi-liquid products, as well as some liquids.
  • Can be discarded with organic waste like potato peel in town and city organic waste bins or composted at home. Organic waste collection is compulsory in all EU states since the end of 2023 (EU Directive 2018/851). Also, our materials are considered organically recyclable.
  • Decompose into toxin-free and microplastic-free compost that can sustain new plant life.
  • Free from compounds harmful to human health, like phthalates, BPA, PFAs and antimony.
  • Can be manufactured and used in packaging manufacturers’ and co-packers’ existing machinery with no increase in production cycle time. No CapEx investment is required, so our materials are quick and easy to adopt.
  • Can be printed and coloured with a stunning range of home compostable inks.
  • You can license our IPR for manufacturing our materials or you can order your finished packaging solutions directly from us.
  • Significantly lower CO2 footprint than fossil-based plastic.
Our Products
#1
Flexible film
Biobased and it composts at ambient temperature. Suitable for manufacturing sachets, pouches, doypacks, film lids, etc. Can be sealed to our injection material, e.g. to make a tray with a lid.
#2
Injection moulding material
Biobased and it composts at ambient temperature. Suitable for manufacturing caps, fitments, cups and other items manufactured in moulds. Items manufactured with our injection material, e.g. cups, can be washed and re-used up to 200 times. Can be sealed to our flexible film, e.g. to make a flexible pouch with a rigid cap.
PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT AND HUMAN HEALTH

We aim to reduce the environmental pollution caused by packaging and other items made from contaminating plastic, by replacing it with our biobased materials, which compost at ambient temperature and are free from toxins which damage human health commonly found in fossil-based plastic.

Our impact targets include:

2029
Tons of contaminating plastic replacing with our sustainable materials by 2029
50k
2029
Tons of CO2 saved
175k
2026
New R&D projects to replace plastics derived form petroleum and other contaminating plastics
